suggestions for replacement radio/cd
I currently have I think a VDO CD 413X Radio CD.
I'm considering replacing it with a DAB radio/CD player for ease of tuning. What ever I use, I want it to have an appearance of being from the time the car was made and not too modern or it will look out of place. Orange lighting and if possible a USB port with a repeat button so I can listen to tracks repeatedly would be nice. I'd like to set a security code and be able to change the colour of the display Can you suggest anything? I will be without access to the forum for a while so apologies if I do not reply thank you macafee2 Last edited by macafee2; 16th September 2019 at 21:34.. |

I can recommend a pioneer DD unit.
I have a AVH-X3500DAB unit currently but will soon upgrade to an Appleplay version as then the phone will stream the Google/Waze/Apple maps sat nav to the screen at will. Nice graphics, reliable operation, good reception, excellent support if you need it (rarely) You an easily link it to the steering wheel control via a BM-53 interface unit from Autoleads.

I went to Halfords today expecting a large selection to be on display.
I noticed some had a feature, Alexia. Does this mean I can control the unit by talking to it? macafee2 |

Most likely as I have Siri and Alexa app on my iphone and it works as intended.
When I hook up my phone via usb cable (mounted in the dash), to the headset, it is always on charge and it is totally automatic in answering and making calls,,,no button touching !! If I need to dial out button free I just use “hey Siri” or Alexa and ask it to dial whoever and it does it all !! Like having a co pilot to carry out all the lesser operations while you concentrate on driving.

I know how you feel as halfrauds are poor nowadays and dedicated car hifi joints are scarce.
There is a big car audio outfit online with a detailed web site, anything will fit using a Autoleads facia. You just need to get the spec you desire and take the plunge. Just avoid all those cheap and nasty cheap Chinese units, (Xtrons et al) and you will be ok Try here. https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/cat...larity=DESC&v=
