All this is fascinating and I think I should have mine checked, is there anybody near me with a tester I live in Holbeach, Lincs. If not is anyone going to the Longbridge photo shoot with one, it could be an added incentive to try and make it.
Lastly has anybody tried sourcing the motor on its own to effect repairs? Im currently at a loose end and if anyone can supply motor details or even a duff one, I would gladly try. AND ALL ALONG I THOUGHT VIS WAS A COMIC |

Hi Peter,
VIS motors, where do we start . All the electrical parts are available, relays, switches and even motors. The motors take a bit of tracking down but Russ and I bought our last batch of 50 from America . The plan was to supply replacement VIS motors for club members at cost. the motors wouls contain all new electrical parts. The stumbling block is the PCB. not only the placing of the tracks but the exact placing of the components and more importantly the unusual shape of the PCB its self. Bigruss managed to track down a supplier in Germany who can produce them, however they cannot simply copy a board. it has to be presented to them in a certain format that we have not yet mastered. Your input is most welcome. if you need use of the club tester just PM JDC and for thee price of postage ( both ways, its yours to use )

Hi all I dont know if mine have a problem or not the engine starts to pull at 3000 rpm up to 7000 when the rev limiter cuts in and im getting 26.9 av mpg mostly country lane driving.
If anyone is close to Toddington, Bedfordshire it would be nice to have them checked as I only have my wifes mgf 1.8i to compair it to |

Sounds about right Martin, VIS valves are active around 3k and 4.5k depending on throttle position.
Get yourself to a meet and I/We have built that many now somebody will have one

Hi Dave, Thanks for that having had a 300TDI range Rover before it's a totally diffrent beast. Do you have any meets in the Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire aera and I can't find any previous ones on the forum.

Hi. In this discussion I have the feeling that the VIS valves are a "teeth sucking" expense item.
As I suspect one or both of mine has gone bosoms up I have logged into Rimmers and find the cost is £70.56 for one and £81.60 for the other. Now in the scheme of things and the price of spares for washing machines etc this does not appear to be an amount to be pulling one's hair out over. My query is, would this be the correct price for the complete part for part swap? |
