Morning all - the sun hasn't quite broken through here yet - there's still a bit of cloud around.
Back to the same old routines today - time to re-stock the larder - think I'll invest in a hand car wash whilst SWMBO destroys the household budget in the food shops

Morning everyone, another sizzler on the cards by the looks of it. I think I'll be messing around and giving myself an headache with a plug-in range extender for the wi-fi cctv doodah I got off Ebay.
The farthest camera away from the Virgin Hub drops in & out from time to time also after I'd set everything up I noticed there was a firmware upgrade so installed that without taking note of settings & passwords D'oh! Start all over again lol.

Its a rear corner one can just about reach it laying beside the car but will just jack up that side to give a bit more elbow room.

I'm knackered! Just humped 6 x 20 kilo bags of mortar mix from the front gate round the back. Delivery driver got them off the truck two at a time so I thought can't be that heavy, went to lift one

Evening all, this scorching weather is way too much for a non sun lover like me, I feel lousy & absolutely drained.

Careful with that back Steve, I had a similar experience in the early 1970's when I was on the lorries, I picked up 20 ton of peanuts from Catford south London for the chocolate factory in York. The load was handball and there was another guy in his fifties who picked a sack of these raw peanuts up with no bother, I went to pick my sack up & thought Jeebus! They were 100cwt hessian sacks & you couldn't drag them along the trailer floor as they would rip. I didn't have any gloves & after loading the 20 ton my hands were ripped to shreads To top it off there were a lot of loose peanuts on the bed of the trailer that I picked up for a snack, when I got to the chocolate factory in York the guy said they needed to be washed as they were treated with a vermin repellent ...Begger

Done my back twice. First time I was "restoring" an old Honda CB550K3, lifted the engine back into the frame, finger tightened the mounting bolts then finished for the day. Into the kitchen to wash my hands, turned to pick the soap up and BANG, my back locked up, spent a very uncomfortable nightshift standing most of the night in the cab of a class 26 as I couldn't sit comfortably.
2nd time I didn't really do anything, working in the garden and just bent down the wrong way. I actually felt a crunch at the base of my back, within a couple of days I could barely stand let alone anything else. I'd crushed a disc which in turn swelled up and trapped the sciatic nerve. I don't ever want to go through pain like that again! |
