Have you been in contact with DMRGS? I most certainly would so that he knows about the situation. Wrong tensile strength is/ could lead to a serious accident and they need to know so they can put it right.

Hi Simon. Drop Matt or is new partner a PM and see if they will reinburse you for the nut & bolts, I read that they are working on a phone number so they can be called? which is going to be better at least then you can talk to him/them direct. Are the arms etc the ones made in India or China ? I am waiting for the new batch to come on the market before I purchase some for the future.

This table says minimum yield strength is 640 MPa (for all sizes below 16mm) - https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-i...ade-chart.aspx. If the Rimmers bolts FC112187A are tensile rating 10.9 (post 7), then they'd have a minimum yield strength of 940 MPa, or nearly 50% more. I don't know how accurate that table is. I also don't know how torque settings relate to minimum yield strengths. The table defines yield strength as "The maximum load at which a material exhibits a specific permanent deformation" - so logically, minimum yield strength must mean the minimum (smallest, lowest, least) maximum load at which a material exhibits a specific permanent deformation. Wot? |

Hi Simon.
I would stick to the original bolts & nuts from rimmers or take a bolt into your nearest iron mongers and see if they can find the same for you. At £3.25 & £2.04 its not that costly, then add postal cost.

I thought that DMGR's would have sorted this by now. I purchased the complete kit to fix my Dad's ZT-T. It failed it's MOT on a fractured coli spring, and having removed the coil spring small sections of the upper arm had rusted through. I got the bolt kit out of the envelope and should have trusted my better judgement but assumed (my mistake) that these would have been supplied as a suitable alternative. Snapping the upper arm to sub frame bolt whilst tightening to the required torque I realised my mistake. They have an email from me. I will now have to drop the sub frame again to try and get the sheared thread section out of the captive nut and arm. Not happy is an understatement. |

Hi Ben. Let us know what the outcome is on this as I am awaiting the new arms to arrive, and I have also ordered the bolts on offer. If they are the wrong ones, I will not accept them. Obviously dangerous as you have found out.
