Default Retrieved fault code 39 from ABS control unit

Got my 2.5 conny at a locale garage here in spain (english guys), and after they change the front break pads and sensor the car starting to act weird!!

The fuel consumption went up from 23.6 to 19.6mpg (city), and when I take right turns, it feels like something is wrong over by the left wheel

There is no warning lights on, and I used another (Bosch) garage who found the 39 fault code.
Just want to do a check with you guys here before I go further spendin pinpoint money

Any suggestions...and is it normal for this 39 ABS code to make the hight fuel usage as well??
Could it be something with the ABS modulator??

Thanks in advance,
Frank.
