Question Handbrake shoes - grease for contact points

What is the charcoal coloured grease used here (arrowed)?

These new backplates are now re-painted and on the car but I haven't put anything on the shoe contact points yet. Haynes page 9*14 just says use "high temperature brake grease or anti-seize compound".

I've got some Bremtech Pad Goo but I'm not sure it's the right stuff for the metal edges of handbrake shoes. It's clear and not charcoal/graphite coloured as per the heavy duty looking stuff in the pic.
