Default Rover 75 fan rebuild

Got a question for those more learned than myself !!
Have a spare cooling fan which I thought Id rebuild with new bushes, pulled it apart and found 2 of the magnets in the casing cracked and loose but has a good armater (comutater?)
Also haver another old fan with a knackered comutater but good magnets and casing.
Can the comutater (the bit in the middle with windings on it) be removed ?
It obviously got a bearing but wondering if there is anyway of removing the bit the fan attaches to ?
It has a hex nut on it but not sure if its threaded.
