So a V8 for me at least would need to be in the lower tax bracket, not because I cannot afford it, but because I begrudge paying this money to the state

I am so glad you have posted this... I can now show her indoors...that I do not spend a lot on my cars compared to my namesake from up North that car tax bill is eyewateringly painful BUT what a nice choice of cars to choose from to take out 214sei being my favourite.
