Rust hole in sill
I've just checked my car prior to it's MOT and have been able to poke a big (1cm x 4cm) hole in the drivers side sill, and another small hole up into that cavity from below. The rust is just behind the rear jacking point. It will need a metal patch to repair it. The passenger side has a less developed failure in the same position.
Having examined the hole this rust could have been prevented by ensuring the small nearby drain hole is unblocked. To prevent this hole occurring on other cars I suggest waxoyl sprayed up into this hole and the paint / underseal in this area regularly checked. |
