Default Access to head light bulbs?

When driving at night since the re-polish of the lenses the dip beam is adequate, barely, but main although very bright only lights up a patch of road about 20 feet in front of the car which is pretty useless.

Have read through the posts on adjusting and see lots of mention of improperly seated bulbs. I am not surprised as just checking under the bonnet I see it's about impossible to get tat them let alone see if the bulbs are seated properly .

Sensible suggestions on a post card please .
