Default Leather seat cleaner/restorer

Hi

My seats are ok, but I want give them a really good clean, probably use some dye in the most worn areas, and then condition / protect it. Can anyone recommend a leather cleaning / restoration kit.

Thanks

I have just done the leather in my 75 with Meguiars leather cleaner and leather conditioner. This was just to make sure it was clean and not drying out. They are very easy to use ( the cloths used to apply the cleaner got just a little grubby/black during the process so the leather couldn't have been very dirty). The conditioner certainly brought the leather up to as new and, again, was easy to use. I don't believe these products would recolour faded or worn leather but definitely recommend for dirty and/or dry leather. I see it now also comes as a combined cleaner/conditioner product but don't know how that performs.

Thanks Kenneth. It sounds like Meguiars does the job. I'll give it a go.

thanks again

I agree neatsfoot oil is very good and can transform leather with several applications especially on older leather.

I highly recommend Leather Forever for good cleaning and general use
http://www.leather-forever.net/
I have been using it for years on my classic car and the leather is as supple as it was when new.

One thing I have found it is much better to use any of these products when the weather is a lot warmer as a lot of them are lanolin based so are absorbed a lot better. A local car restorer showed me how he applies the product and uses a hot air gun, the product was absorbed almost instantly and the creases almost disappeared.

Not forgetting this http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/connolly...FdIV0wodbTQKFA Not as easy to obtain as it used to be but a very good product.

That's really interesting. What product was he doing that with?

I use http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Lea...nditioners.php cleaner & conditioner on my sofa and it works really well so am going to use the same products in the car once the weather warms up a bit.

Ali.

Gliptones Leather Care for me always leaves a lovely smell of old english leather too. Their scuff master dyes are excellent too for badly worn seats and steering wheels
