Cold Air From Heater 2.5 Kv6 2001
Despite the fact that L & R controls on the Climate control are set to HIGH ,the passengers side (foot or face level)allways blows ambient air temp,as does the rear vent.
Drivers side does blow warm air but its not as hot as most vehicles I have driven. The Haynes manual gives very little information on fault finding the heater side of C/Control so any ideas would be most welcome. Regards Dan |

wouldn't adjusting the dial under the clock cure this?

No, the adjuster under the clock is only there to provide cold air through the face vents even if the heater is on, although I have doubts above how effective this is. (Why anyone would have hot air in the face is beyond me btw.) It is a typical German thing with hot air to the headand in none of my other cars is that possible.
As mentioned, it is possible that the water temperature is too low, owing to a stuck thermostat, or, alternatively, you could have an air-lock, or too little water in the cooling system. I would check that asap, as that can be nasty. The heater element could also be partly blocked However if you have cold in one side and hot in the other, there could be a fault with either the control or the monitoring. Lastly, an odd one out, the waterpump not pumping as it should. |

I would check fuses and resistors if the above isn't the cause. The resistor pack should be located in the air vent somewhere to disperse the heat generated and keep them cool. From my own experience (not from a 75 I should add) these resistors can burn out so some if not all fan speeds are disabled. Another reason to make sure the vent filters aren't too blocked

Cold Air From Heater 2.5 Kv6 2001
Thanks for the ideas, the temperature gauge is normal(midway)and the fuses under the passengers footwell have been checked as have the underbonnet fuses a precaution. All seems fine.As for airlocks I have just replaced the coolant but it did the same thing prior to the coolant service.
Hope it can be fixed soon as my wife has chewed my ear so badly I will resemble Van Gogh !!!!!!!!. Regards Dan |

Firstly, forget about the temperature gauge. It is virtually useless as it will show normal for everything in between 75 and 115 degrees. It might as well have been painted on. And, secondly:
As for an air-lock, check your water regularly, I do it at least once a day, and make sure that you fill up to the marks on the side of the expansion box. If you don't know it, these engines can loose water rapidly, so do not treat it like a normal car, where you forget it! I have a little torch which I use to shine on top, while I check at the side. I have found that to get all air out of the system, you might need a fairly long drive, and keep the heater open while you go. Hope you find it before winter Just check, and then check again! |

this is due to a blocked matrix heater on one side. Photos somewhere for removal and clean-out.
