Default Faulty Injectors - synergy 2 - Barnsley

Hope you all had a good christmas!

I have an MG ZT diesel which I have tried to install a synergy 2, on installation the engine ran rough and smoked a lot!.

Bigruss put the T4 on it and found the the cylinders were out of balance (MAF was ok)

cylinder 2 +2.4
1+3 around -1.5
cylinder 4 @ 0.

Could this cause the synergy not to work, or make the balancing issue worse ? Without the synergy fitted the engine runs smooth.

Assuming the injectors are the issue, does anyone know of a good place to get my injectors tested in the Barnsley area, I have spoke with Johndotcom who can sort me out with a new set of injectors, need someone who could test and fit a new set.

Cheers !

First of all, put loads of injector cleaner through the fuel system, that will help.. then...

Try leaving the MAF off (if it's a Bosch) then put the tuner on 3. and if thats ok, move up to 4 and try again, and so on untill you find a setting the car likes..

Russ (and Keith) found my injectors varied a lot, but my car still runs very well with a Synergy2 fitted.

Won't tolerate the Synergy on any setting even off.

I have contacted Ron and am awaiting a reply.

James,

thanks for the reply, it was russ who tried to set the synergy up for me, we tried with/without the maf and different settings and no luck.

Also put 2 x lots of injector fluid through it prior to synergy fitting.

Cheers

Darren

The Injectors do indeed give bad readings as out of balance on T4 when requiring replacement,
often accompanied by leakback which is generally the reason for T4 confirmation of worn Injectors.
I have sent the OP a few things to check which I expect Russ of course would already have suggested.
One of the Main things for smoke on a Diesel is over-fuelling which can be caused by the MAF or indeed the EGR or PCV among others.
Still a strange fault when Synergy fitted though and will be interested on Ron's reply as not seen purely this.

After changing my Injectors they were nearly all reading on or near "0" on T4 and fault cleared.
Has your MPG dropped at all?

Not noticed a loss in mpg, I has the PVC and ERG valves replaced before we fitted the synergy ..... once the synergy had been removed completly the smoking stopped.

Still need a local injector specialist if anyone knows of one.

Redex or Wynns about £4.99 a bottle or if you want one of the best, Forte approx £14 per 400mls.

But usually the Redex or Wynn's does the job, make sure you get the injector cleaner, not the fuel treatment.
