North East Nano Meet Venue
I've been to see a chap today in Darlington who has an ideal facility for a North East nano style meet.
His name is Jim Pearson & he has set up a nicely equipped workshop called Spanner It on Yarm Road Ind. Est. in the town & basically you rent a bay to repair your car using his tools (& yours if you want) There is a charge for this obviously but we can get special rates for being a car club & can book the whole workshop for 1/2 or full days at a reasonable rate. I am happy to co-ordinate such a meet but would need a guarantee of attendance by way of a deposit otherwise I will be liable for all costs which would be very unfair. The prices I have arranged today are £120 for a 1/2 day or £200 for a full day now I know at first this sounds expensive but the more people we can get the cheaper it becomes, the workshop itself can comfortably accomodate 6-7 cars & the yard is massive so outdoor nano-ing is both possible & welcomed but please be aware that wether inside or outside, fixer or fixee you all pay your share. Here's a link to Spanner It's website http://www.spannerit.co.uk/ Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated |

I concur with Colin's view of the site. The owner's are very keen on car clubs,I would say, real enthusiasts,& the facilities are second to none.Easily accommodate 20+cars.

Hi Col,
I have always fancied attending one of these Nano style meets to see how they operate to then see if we can organise one up here. Darlington is 183 miles away for me so is possible. Looking at the maths, if we take the workshop for a full day at £200, then we need 20 members to make it £10 a head, 16 members to make it £12.50 and obviously if was only 10 members, £20 a head. Saying that, if there were only 10 members maybe the half day would be sufficient at £12 a head. Sounds a good idea, although obviously I agree that you would need to be protected against the costs implications. When were you thinking of? Derek
