Hi Ray,

I bought a set of tourer rear seats in Sandstone Leather from a breakers yard online and was a bit disappointed when they arrived in a pretty grubby state, with dirt rubbed down into the grain of the leather.

I tried a few different approaches and products but by far the best I found was to get a soft nail-brush (mine was 50p from Wilkinson!) and a bottle of Wheelers Leather Balm.

Get a tub of warm water and wet the brush, then gently work the balm into the grain of the leather a panel at a time. You should see the dirt lift off. Finally buff it clean with a clean cloth and if the leather is dry (i.e. needs conditioning) afterwards use another clean cloth to rub some more balm into it.

This also worked a treat on my sandstone steering wheel, but note that it can make it a bit slippery.

Good luck....

I used a similar procedure on mine, but with a Vanish stain removing soap bar. It worked really well to get rid of grime and stains, both on the leather, and on the plastic trim.

I would use war, soapy water and give it a good wipe with a cloth first then use a dedicated leather cleaner and brush to agitate it and then wipe off with a microfibres cloth. A leather cleaner like Dr Leather will do the job very well and has an awesome smell.
