Default OK so decision made

The Astra is going. Another expensive mistake. I just have to work out the logistics of paying it off or trading it in, then how to buy another 75. I've actually had a reasonable offer from We Buy Any Car believe or not, and I've got 9 days to pay off the finance in the withdrawal period. After that I'll lose even more money.

So the hunt for my perfect 75 ensues. Things I NEED. Air con. Rear electric windows. CD multichanger. Things I can live without. Leather seats, electric seats, cruise control. So I reckon I'm looking at Club trim?

Next question: Diesel or petrol. I;ve had both. I'm veering more towards a diesel manual, that was the last one and I've loved it, bar the heavy clutch. The petrol was good but very inefficient and the auto diesel I did not like one bit. However I do 3 15 mile journeys a week, 1 40 mile round trip each week and the rest are stop start, so would I do more harm than benefit with a diesel? Although Honey coped with, it was the body and chassis that was done in, engine would have ran forever.

Saloon or tourer? Again I've had both but given the fact I've had a baby I've forgotten how much we enjoy camping and the Astra is def too small. This year we'll try and get away and I'm thinking about giving the tourer another bash. The reason I got rid of the last one so quickly was due to the auto gearbox and the terrible pull the car had, that no amount of wheel alignment would cure.

So I'm kinda up against time as far as the finance on the astra goes. I do NOT want to be locked into a 5 year finance deal and I can't believe I had such a brain rush to do it. The 75 was bought and paid for. Anyway, no point in beating myself up, I can rectify this, if the right car comes along quickly!

Comments and input welcome

Go back to the garage and see what they will give you for it - I would have thought that it may be higher than 'We buy any car (for peanuts ) .com'

I've never properly used that site but I did have a quote off them once, and it was less than half the going rate at the time based on auto trader and eBay ads. They're good if you want a quick sale but they won't give tou snywjere near what you could get elsewhere!

Hi,

Have read some previous posts on your dilemma about buying the Astra.
I'd contact the garage & see if you could come to an arrangement about giving the car back or getting out the finance & then hunt for a 75 don't rush it even if you buy a couple of hundred quid runabout till you find the ideal 75.

Anna, Have you been in touch with the Dealership to discuss what options you have on returning the car.

Simply say that the car is not suitable for your needs, you will take a hit,but not as big as you would paying Finance on this particular car for five years.

Arnold Clark is technically a finance company, you must have some kind of cooling off period or some rights written into the agreement.

Before looking at further vehicles, sort this before it's too late.

They won't buy it back, they would only accept it back as a trade in and rover 75's in arnold are rarer than hens teeth.

I hear WBAC make a good web offer, then when they actually see it knock the offer down to not very much. The high initial offer is to get their hooks into you. Go back to the garage you bought it from.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
