Default Cost of clutch

I've been quoted c.£800-00 for complete new clutch assembly and labour on my 2005 Rover Diesel ? Is this about right?

I recently was involved in my son-in-law's Vauxhall Insignia diesel engine swap, which also required a new dual mass flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate... £594 parts only, so £800 parts and labour sounds reasonable.

I would imagine it does, my son-in-law's Insignia is 2011 model, so about 6 years newer than any originally fitted to our cars, Ok his car had done 130K+ miles, but so have many of ours, and there was definite play in the dmf - I insisted the fitter kept the old parts for my inspection.

Just to update Members, my total cost was £749-14 that's Parts, Labour and VAT. Noting the valid comment in Post #5, the DMF was found to be within spec and so was not replaced. This might explain why my final cost was below the estimate? View?

Default Just had my diesel clutch done

Just had the clutch done at a little over 150k

Labour was £250
Mechanic changed the pressure & driven plates
+ the slave

He said there was next to nothing in the DMF so that stayed on.

He originally quoted £850 for the entire job incl parts
IF the DMF needed changing.....

Not a 75 'specialist'
but he knew his stuff & said he worked on lots of them when he was a youngster serving his time....
