I was looking at their prof ratchets as in the summer my 1/4 drive broke and now my 3/8ths has bitten the dust too, only cheapos though.. With the prof pair coming in at nigh on £35 i've decided to get one of these, not sure which one yet though..
Payday tomorrow, early xmas present me thinks..

Had a few halfords tools and they are ok, far better than Draper and the other high street brands. I prefere Teng Tools for a really tight fit onto nuts and bolts, which is vital for preserving the hex shape and not killing knuckes, everybit as good as the Snap-on stuff i have and lifetime warranty too. Horses for courses.
I have had snap-on tools for 30 years and never once had a breakage or issue, bar a ratchet screwdriver that locked on the ratchet, it was 20 years old and i got a new one under warranty no bother at all. Have been buying teng for a good number of years now as its half the price of snapon and again never once had an issue and they do grip onto a nut well. A lot of tools now offer a great warranty but if the size tolorence is poor they strip nuts and bolts with ease, no warranty against that. I like to buy good, buy once. Halfords term "professional" is misleading though. A top quality socket would be hex pattern not bi hex.
Ok for light duty but come across a corroded nut or bolt and you will quite likely round it off. Hex pattern is what a pro would use from the outset. it is no bargain at £80 imho but a fair enough price for a far east produced set. I like Metrinch not cheap but top quality and do not slip and round off nuts!! Ed Last edited by capese21; 9th December 2013 at 12:24.. |

No metrinch are spanners designed to work on both metric and imperial nuts, great if you are in a hurry and the bolts aren't rusty, I bought my dad a set of them many years ago as they sounded like a good idea, they are one of the few tools I haven't pinched from his garage 😁
