Default 2010 West Midlands Nano-meets

We think it might be about time to come out of hibernation and emerge from the snows of Winter

Rob and I have been having a chat and we thought it was time to start nano-meets again.

Here is the situation:-

The proposed date will be Sunday 28th February 2010 starting at the usual time of 09:30 / 10:00 ish.

There are two variables. Firstly, does anybody want to come to the first nano-meet of 2010?

The second variable stems from the first and is to do with venue.

As Rob and I see it, the weather may be kind or it may not. Those of you who attended the last meet know how cold it gets after several hours, even with the superb catering that was provided.

What we thought was this:-

If up to 8 cars are keen on attending, we can have the meet at my house where there is at least some shelter for those not actually engaged in work on cars. Those of you who have been here before will know that two, or at most, three cars can be worked on at any one time.

If there are more than 8 cars attending, to maintain the cooperation and amicability of my neighbours, we would hold the meet at Rob's venue which has space for an awful lot more cars and is far enough away from residential property that we won't cause trouble. The downside is that there is no fixed shelter and it can be a little... chilly.

A third possibility would be if another member can offer suitable accommodation

The decision on venue would have to be taken fairly quickly so if you're interested, please can you add your names and what you want doing (or what you can do) as per the previous successful meets?

If you absolutely, positively can't make 28th and would like to attend, then the next couple of Sundays are "do-able" as far as Rob and I are concerned but a decision would have to be made in the interests of the majority of course

It states "West Midlands" in the subject of this thread but that ONLY applies to location. Club members are welcome from far and wide if they want to make the trip (and some do, regularly, from a fair distance).

Finally, if you don't have a clue what a nano-meet is, basically its a few members who want to do stuff to their cars (nothing oily or that will take longer than a few hours) but need people to help or give encouragement, combined with a few members who have particular skills or can provide specific services. Nobody stands and watches... erm... well, not ALL the time If you don't want work doing on your car and don't have any particular skills or experience but would just like to help then please do

Please be aware this is not an official 75 & ZT Owners Club meet and as such is not covered by the clubs public liability insurance. Also the owners club take no responsibility for the meet in any way. Owners are responsible for their cars and any work carried out is at their own risk.

I would like to attend please Paul and Rob. Would like to have a go at fitting one powerfold mirror and switch if poss. still hunting for a N/S.

My specific skills include :

a pair of hands that are sometimes able to remove and refit door gromits.

make refitting a door card much more difficult than it really is.

generally help out where I can.

bring cakes!

Ben

The original post explains a nano meet. There are also some threads from previous ones. have a look and you'll see what we get up to.

The last one was cold windy and wet, and ended with a dozen club members using Rover rechargeable torches to find a rusty brown screw on a patch of brown dirt. But they did and it's back in my bumper.

Paul, Rob. I'm not sure at the moment. I'd like to come to help (no do-able jobs pending I can think of) but have to see how things go. Have to say that the weather needs to be a LOT better than right now (Minus 4 outside).
