Default Passenger side power fold mirror not working

Hi all. Just fitted a set of power fold mirrors to my 75. The driver side mirror works fine and folds but the passenger side mirror does nothing. It adjusts fine but just doesn't fold. Anyone have any advice on how to fix or diagnose the problem? Cheers

All the wiring/connectors present at the passenger side? Two connectors, one for adjustment and heating, one for folding.

If the board is not the problem it could be the mirror gears have packed up

How easy is it to change those gears? I have the later skullcap types.

Never done the job myself but have cleaned the circuit board 2 or 3 times over the years and it sorted non working powerfolds.

But this tells how you do it on Bullets

Can't see dirty contacts being the problem if one is folding and the other isn't. More likely a problem with the mirror motor or wiring. Try applying power to the motor directly, the two wires are +ve and -ve, can't remember which is which. One polarity opens or folds the mirror, reversing the polarity moves it in the other direction.

If its the gears you should still hear the motor working.

There is a "how to" for changing the gears. Trebor who wrote the how to used to supply replacement gears but don't know if he still does.

Where did you get the mirrors and do you know if they were working correctly before you got them?

Got the mirrors from Tom Force, he said he tested them and they were working when I got them. I don't hear anything from the mirror when I press the button.

The voltage to the mirrors would just be straight 12V right?

If you've got a multimeter I'd check there is power going to the mirror when the button is pressed.

Hold in, is the cross body wiring which runs under the dash between the doors present. Two wires, one orange, the other orange/red.

Using a multimeter check at the connector to the mirror at the non working side when the button is pressed.

Were the orange and orange striped wire definitely at the car side of the door loom connectors, as that's where it's missing from lower spec cars?

The Driver's side will always work as the wiring at that side is complete in the driver's side door loom

If it's not working on the Passenger side it's definitely either a connection issue at one of the door loom connectors, the connection to that mirror or missing wiring.

It's a just a switched loop that runs from the Driver's switch pack to the mirror and back again
