Have you re-synced the keyboard and dongle yet? There's usually a small button on the bottom of the keyboard, and sometimes one on the dongle as well. Press them both if present. Until then you'll need to activate the onscreen keyboard which is I guess how you posted?

I should have mentioned it is my computer keyboard, don't have a dongle, this is being typed on my I-Pad, how to activate the on screen board.

Straight from MS (I'm assuming you are using a recent version of Windows)

Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking On-Screen Keyboard.

Is there a sync button on the bottom of the keyboard? If so, press it.

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard which will only work with Energizer batteries, It doesn't want to know Duracells! Just a thought.

You must think I'm. A numpty, having Windows 10, don't know how to get into those programmes, just spent half hour trying.

If your keyboard is wireless then somekind of receiver at the computer end is required.. are you sure there isn't a dongle in the back of the pc?

Absolutely positive, I had a wireless mouse sitting around, so I thought I would stick two batteries in it too try it out, it lit up and at that point I had a look under the keyboard and pressed a little black button that is when I tried the wireless mouse to see if the cursor would move, it didn't.
I then went to send an E-Mail and discovered it wouldn't work.

A keyboard with no dongle will be Bluetooth won't it?
May want re-pairing if it is.
