Default Diesel auto front springs

I'm looking at trying to source the correct front springs for the Connie as I am sick of the low ride on the front. A couple of years back one of the struts was leaking so I just swapped the both of them including the manual spec springs with a spare set from my diesel manual tourer and the ride has been low and soft since then.

Speaking to local motor factors, I'm being told they are all the same but I don't believe them. I managed to lift the back seat and there was just enough of the label to identify them as JM. Armed with this info, I checked out Rimmer's for the matching springs. With the cost including delivery I am looking at £152 for the pair.

As money is a bit tight due to being medically dismissed from my job a couple of months ago, I'm trying to save a couple of quid as I need discs and pads, front back plates and top mounts, before then starting other jobs on the tourer as well.

Has anyone has a similar issue and manage to raise the front of a diesel auto and improve the ride .

16 inch unions the the same as my tourer which has a beautiful ride, however when I bought the car it was fitted with 18 inch hairpins and I think the horrible ride with those wrecked the shockers hence the change to the unions . That doesn't explain the front of the car sitting low compared to my other 75 and the springs aren't broken either.

Thanks for that, I had just about given up hoping for someone to give out some advice lol ! It’s interesting to see the difference in free length and coil thickness. It looks like I’m going to have to go with Rimmers to get the correct springs to stop the front end hitting the road when me and the wife are out in the car.

I’ve had the Suplex 28136 fitted in a couple of my cars, as I liked (what I believed to be) a slightly higher ride height.
Unfortunately I found that they only lasted about 1 to 1 1/2 years😞, usually snapping in the colder weather.
I hope yours fair better than mine.🤞

The aftermarket springs that Rimmers were listing were suplex and they said they weren’t available! I’ve gone for the Quinton Hazell as a known make and hope they last more than a couple of years and they were cheaper than rimmers were charging for the suplex by about £11.00

Well the new springs have arrived and it's nice to see a quinton Hazell box after quite a few years. From ordering to arriving from Germany took 8 days. As I'm happy with my order I've decided to order some TRW pads and discs for £89 inc postage and will crack on with fitting the lot when they arrive

Any chance you could double check the spring dimensions against my spreadsheet, and then the height to the top of the wheel arch. For future reference for others?
