New problem quickly solved
Thought I'd share this one with you all in case it happens to somebody else.
Driving home about 30 minutes ago the accelerator pedal felt a bit stiff. Cruising at 30 I decided to have a quick stab on the pedal to see if that shifts the stiffness. Pedal went down but didn't come up! Didn't want to end up speeding in a 30 zone so put the clutch in so of course the revs were bouncing off the limiter. Engine off, cruise to a steady stop with the hazards on. So what caused this? Simple, the idle breather pipe which passes by the throttle body from the rear bank had popped out of its clip and had managed to work itself under the throttle lever. jamming it in the open position. Popped the tube back into where it should be, jobs-a- good'un. Interestingly though I had to get a screw driver out the boot. The car wouldn't allow the boot to open so I had to use the key, and even then it didn't do the motor 'clunk' noise. I'm guessing the ecu shut some of the electrics down due to me turning the engine off while moving. Clever stuff.
