![]() Today I had a high-pitched whistle/whine as soon as I drove off, which varied with engine RPM.
It seems louder under load, and almost silent when cruising. Almost sounds like it's related to the air intake?? Had a quick look under the bonnet but couldn't see anything obvious. PAS reservoir hasn't lost fluid, but I have had a tiny tiny weep for from the pump for ages. Any ideas before I investigate further? Ta ![]()

![]() Not the aircon, as that was off.
![]() I think you might be on to something. This noise stopped after a very short time - and it quite probably coincided with there being water in the boot, which made the Highline radio connector wet. So, is it possible that a wet connector made the radio broadcast the noise of the car's electrical system? Or more likely that it was a self-healing air-intake fault? I have been told that it possible that the alternator's whine could have been broadcasting itself, and I think that is probably what happened.

![]() Not occurred since, have got the radio in the main boot at the moment, I am sure this problem was caused by the radio connector getting wet.

![]() My aircon pump sounds like a supercharger whining away. Try turning that off.
