Top hose
On the top radiator hose of my 1.8t it joins to the head via a plastic connection with a rubber O ring seal, may sound daft but does the O ring seal sit inside the plastic connector and then slide onto the alloy inlet? Or does the O ring sit in the clip recess? Didn't pay much attention when I took it off! http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ProductI...GRID001583.gif
Its number 1 on the pics.. Took this pic... upload a gif Last edited by bear-mg; 18th August 2015 at 20:30.. |

The O-ring sits in a groove in the plastic connector. It's located further in than the wire clip. When you push the plastic connector onto the metal piece, the O-ring is forced into contact with the tapered section. This forms the seal and the wire clip retains the tension between the two. Lube the taper with a smear of silicone grease. If necessary, first clean the surface with wire wool.
