That was the first guitar piece I learned right through, every note, every tremolo tug and, embarrassingly, every step of the 'trot (including the ciggy bit later much copied by the God Clapton). That Jet 'arris bloke got right up my nose, he was too cool by half. I think Fender built an empire on Hank Marvin.

I used to like the Shadows years ago, but that has rekindled my interest in them.

Hi.
My sister was a big Shadows fan, Jet Harris & Tony Meehan were brilliant as were Hank and Bruce. I loved it when my sister bought a new record.
My favourites were Peace Pipe, The Frightened City, The savage, 36-24-36 & Kon Tiki.
Great group!

Fantastic, It's timeless music & still sounds great today. I was learning the theme music to the TV show jukebox jury a few weeks ago, right up my street

Ah, Hit and Miss! An old tale but very briefly: 1959, I and three mates in our group from Runcorn had a gig at a so-called Working Men's Club in Crewe. We used to book a 'Chara' (short for charabanc or coach for you southern softies) and sell tickets for our local supporters and lady friends (!) to swamp our venues with a friendly atmosphere. We had just learned Hit and Miss and 'acquired' a Watkins Copicat to liven things up. We did the number and they went mad. We had to repeat three times before they would quieten down a bit. Oh, what Wonderful Times and all in the best possible taste.
