Getting all too much
I’ve barely posted of late and don’t visit the forum very much now. I seem to have lost the love for it and for our cars now.....is this the beginning of the end? I have too many cars and it’s stressing me out in terms of managing them and paying for them. I don’t enjoy looking at them, I don’t enjoy being on the forum, I don’t even enjoy driving them at the moment. Life seems so busy at the moment that our cars for me now have gone down on my list of priorities. And, I don’t know what to do. Feel like chucking it all in now and just having one car I can drive about in for work and leisure and not have all this worry. Sick of it.

Pick out the best one, sell the rest and enjoy owning and maintaining just your favourite.

It's not a good time of year to enjoy your car. They get caked in NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- off the roads, any leaks become apparent, they take longer to warm up, locks and door seals freeze, you constantly run out of screenwash and the slippery, pot-holed roads are even more joyless as normal. Summer again soon.
Owning a 75 is a labour of love and when circumstances draw your attention elsewhere, the charm of the cars can be easily forgotten as the niggles take over. I'd also suggest thinning the fleet - maybe keep a good one for weekends and a less good one, or something else, for daily duties. Clear the fleet completely at your peril as you may feel bereft if you make yourself 75-less.

I don’t even feel like keeping any of my Rovers. But, at the same time I’m finding it hard to let them go.ll
My fleet as it stands: Rover 75 saloon diesel (former daily, off road but on road soon) MG ZT-T 180 - trying to get shot of this one as I hate the V6 auto. Rover 75 diesel typhoon (off road) Rover 220 coupe turbo (off road but love this car) Rover 620Ti (immaculate and not owned for long) I can’t choose one...

For me the enjoyment is driving. Having a car sat on the drive which I cannot use would bring me down.
I make a point of using both the ZT and TF at the weekend |

I am trying to get rid of the ZT-T. Good car, drives fine, just not for me. Can’t get used to the auto box paired with the V6.
Insurance is killing me. Nearly £200 per month for all the cars.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I’m not in a good head space and have t been for some time. My priority is to make my wedding photography business work. I also need to put more money into it. It’s a bit difficult when I’m spending £200 per month on insurance and then extra on tax, fuel, etc. As much as I’d love to keep my coupe turbo, it also needs a fortune spent on it, this is my dilemma. I love that car but do I love it enough to poor thousands more into it? Is this sensible? I don’t have a lot of money. I work full time as well which pays my bills. The photography is still very early days with hardly any bookings at this stage.
I also live at home with my parents and to be honest, it’s all too much. I want my own space and would love to be in a position where I could move out. But, again this costs money. Money that I don’t have.... Space is now also a massive issue. Some of my cars are kept in council lockups which cost me nearly £45 per month each so that’s another expense I could do without... Also, I don’t have the skills or tools to work on my own cars. My parents don’t allow me to work on cars at home so I never bothered with buying tools or making much effort to fixing things myself. This is all such a big distraction and a headache for me. All I want to do is focus on my future and some day get settled with my own family, my own house and hopefully some day a successful business in a job that I love doing and I am deeply passionate about. I don’t want to worry about cars anymore... I’d love a new car that I can drive about and that’s reliable and get me from a to b without the worry of it breaking down. When I drive my Rovers, I always have that fear of something breaking down. That’s the last thing I want when going to work or on my way to shoot a wedding.

Winter blues, I know how you feel, I have ten cars, all need work, time and money and I cant get motivated.
I sold the Blue 75 for that reason. Hopefully when the sun comes out and the show seasons begins it may change. |
