plenum water drain
I am sure I am not the only club member to stick their head in the sand and adopt a "It won't happen to me" attitude to plenum/ECU flooding. Well today my nerves got the better of me and after a year I decided to investigate. What I saw horrified me! In and around the lower plenum drainage point was enough tree debris to have saved a rain forest! Now I know nothing about anything, which is why Ive so far shyed away from this task, but it is so easy, takes about 20 mins and can save you loads of grief and money! So if there are any more "It won't happen to me" nutters out there, take your head out of the sand , your thumb out of your a**e and go do it. If I can anyone can.

I balked at the task initially but it is actually very easy once you get started.
Christophers plenum spy hole mod, (Do I get shot for not mentioning the originator?) can save even more time and hassle. |

I did it today due to a waterfall in the passenger (your UK. drivers side) footwell and a soake'd floor. Once cheking the drainholes there was about 5cm of standing water. I guess i was just a matter of days before my ECU would have been flooded. Im quite please'd what iv'e accomplished today. =)

Must admit I was all a bit nervous about pulling my plenums apart when I first got the car (had read all about how to do it on here).
It wasn't until after I did it I thought "That was easy". Four months on and now I've no quibbles in taking my car apart... heck, you really don't wanna know what I've got planned for my air intake...! |
