Default Scrubbed Tyres

I had my '03 ZTT MOT'd on Friday, one of the advisories was both front tyres worn on the inside edges. My question to any suspension experts out there is;
Are there any bushes/joints that maybe MOTable but worn enough to scrub my tyres? Apart from getting the tracking checked/adjusted, I don't want to replace 2 tyres for it to happen again.

Thumbs up

I think that it would be a safe bet to say the tracking needs attention

The majority of front tyre inner edge wear it simply tracking toeing in a few degrees.
Rare but bush wear can cause tyre wear although if they are that bad you would know due to suspension noise, and service / mot advisories , fail.

Toe out causes wear to the inner edges of the tyres, toe in causes wear to the outer edges

Ade,

Do you drive centrally over those dreadful speed tablets? I mean those with the chamfered edges. Your tyre wear might be a wheel alignment error, but I think it's equally likely to be the devilish work of speed tablets (the authorities call them speed cushions; a ridiculous name because they bear no resemblance to anything which provides a degree of comfort).

I have had this problem on two of our cars. I now drive over the dreaded things placing one wheel bang in the middle of the tablet, the opposing wheel doesn't contact it at all.

Simon.

I normally straddle them and have not noticed any excess wear on the inner corners. If I staddle them the suspension hardly feels anything and I can maintain speed. If I have go over them with one set of wheels on the bump, I slow right down.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Yep I do try to straddle those tablet bumps. Thanks fellas for the replies, I'll get the tracking checked & then the hunt for some decent tyres begins, can't wait to get rid of the Autogrip 107's. What I didn't want to do was sort the tracking then scrub some new tyres because of a £20 bush but hopefully with all the hints & tips that won't be the case.

If your gonna have the tracking done then give Ben a call at Maiden Castle Garage next to Tesco in Dorchester.
He did mine and they do four wheel lazer tracking.It took him 1/2 hr and charged me £20.I use him quite a lot and he knows his stuff with the 75/ZT.
Hope this helps mate.
