Default V8 wear and tear parts availabilty

Hello,

It has been a while since I visited this forum. I have been busy with another V8 during the last year - an MG RV8.

Anyway, I have been bitten by the V8 bug and as I already have a 75 which has served me faithfully over the last six years I am now seriously contemplating getting a ZT 260.

What does worry me slightly is the availability of parts for the V8 75/ZT's - especially parts that I inevitably will need such as suspension bushes, dampers, springs and other wear and tear parts. Checking at Rimmers almost any such part is listed as "out of stock" but that might not be conclusive. eBay is pretty much the same - loads of regular ZT/75 parts though.

Anyone who can shed some light on this matter?

Cheers,

I have put in to register at the 260s but I thought I'd try and ask here first.

I think the general consensus is pretty much the same as for the standard 75/ZT. All engine related parts are stock ford/mustang and widely available.
The 260s club do well at helping with things like the replacement heater hose and the AirCon heater/mixer valve - 2 common fail areas. Both replacement items are far superior to the original equipment items.
Only part I`m aware of that might be an issue is front/rear springs - as these on some have been known to fail.
Hope this helps - and good luck if you decide to get one....

Erik, would tend to agree the best place to ask this question is on the Two-Sixties, after registering you'll only be able to see the public area - you need to own one before you're allowed into the full forum, however the members are very helpful to people looking to buy - PeterV8 is in Sweden and might well be a guy to contact via pm.

I've had a 75 V8 for the last year and all I've had to do is to replace the heater valve and sort out a sticking front caliper.

Best of luck with your search.

Regards
Jim

If you looking at 75s presumably the front bumper is a worry point unless the chinese solutions has worked out.

There are some odd parts that are hard to get or NLA, but there is usually some sort of solution.

I dont think the V8 is any more difficult that other engined models, but this may change over time.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll try the same question over at the 260's and see what comes up.

Cheers,
