Key fob not working after changing headlights
Have just spent the last few hours changing out the mk1 Xenon headlamps (I'd fitted a few months ago) and replacing with new aftermarket mk1 projectors. Everything went ok until I went to lock the car.. Key fob won't work.
I can still lock and unlock the car with the key but no effect from the fob. Disconnected battery and everything before removing bumper etc - little red light is still coming on on the fob and it's not long since I replaced the fob battery.. Any idea why this isn't working now, before I start to lose the plot?! Cheers. |

Think I read somewhere that if you stand near the car & press the fob 4 times in quick succession, it recodes it Worth a try Karl

That came to my mind as well after all the fun and games at Russ'! Check the front window switches are operating the correct windows!

Front windows ok and nothing else untoward that I've noticed..
Just wondering if the aftermarket lights are playing around with the ECU or the relays or something..? I have no idea regarding automotive electrics btw If all else fails, I'll disconnect the battery again tomorrow and see if it "resets" something.. Cheers. |

Well disconnected the battery for half an hour today, reconnected and problem solved - fob working fine again.
Maybe I had depressed the fob button accidentally or something whilst I was reconnecting the battery yesterday..? Don't know, but the old I.T. trick of switching it off and switching it back on actually seems to work on occasion! Cheers. |
