Help needed in tracking down a Dorchester Red
S542 AOX is a 2.5 V6 in Dorchester Red. It is well known to the club being owned by a member called 'The Waggon and Horses' aka Rob who passed it onto his son, called Darren.
They moved from The Waggon and Horses in Elstree down to a pub called The Spratt and Mackerel Inn, The Quay, Brixham TQ5 8AW I had the fortune to meet Darren when he was at the pub in Elstree and I recall he had a problem at the time with a rattling Inlet Manifold. For a time the car was up for sale and various members in the club expressed an interest in buying it. I checked the DVLA website this evening and it is still around, but is unlicensed. I was wondering if a member in the area, would have time to call into the Spratt and Mackerel and find out if Darren needs help with this beautiful and rare 'S' reg, or if he no longer has it, does he know where it is. Thanks guys for taking the time to look at this. I did ring the Inn, but had no luck in getting through. Perhaps Mel could look in? |

Thanks Ian, that really is very kind of you
This particular Dorchester Red has a lot of history and I think the members would be interested to know what has happened to it and given that there is only a handful of 'S' reg 75's left, every one of them counts. Not only that, maybe Darren would appreciate some help from the club. You know what is it like, when asking for help, sometimes it is the last thing one has in mind. Thank you Mel for going the extra mile with this in visiting and getting the phone number. I will continue to look even though I am in Nairobi. I am in South Africa next week where comms are much easier to do and much cheaper. Another member had expressed interest in making a serious offer for AOX and I know he will be disappointed to see this. All is not lost, I think as I have been at a juncture like this before. There are ways and means. Thanks for helping and for Ian's kind offer, both of you a big thanks

Will keep an eye out whilst driving around the south-west and make enquiries if spotted anywhere

There has been some new developments in tracking down the owner. When it is confirmed, we will know where the car is. I cant say too much at the moment. Apologies for being vague. I believe the car is not in the south west.

I should bring some closure to this thread, even though it remains in part a mystery. We sent messages to the owner on Face Book and a substantial offer was made to buy the car. So far, no reply has been received. If there is an ending, I will let you know
