my car has never been preheated using the glow plugs in four years.this includes going down to minus 13 degrees.the probelm is most likely fuel pumps or a sensor cam or crank cannot remember which

The glow plug relay is a combined ECU and relay which sits with the engine ECU in the plenum chamber.
As mentioned the engine will happily start without the glow plugs in our temperate climate, but if the glowplug relay/ECU gets water damaged then that can cause problems. There are no sensors involved just 4 glowplugs, one for each cylinder. Mike |
