Default National Rover Rally - New Zealand

The Rover Car Clubs of New Zealand are holding their national rally at Easter, in Ashburton, Canterbury. At last count there were over 80 Rover's registered to attend, although I don't know how many 75's. Apart from my own of course, which may well be the youngest Rover there, and possibly the most powerful. Well, we'll see!

Hi, Sorry Derek, somehow I missed your post. Bit late now of course, but the meet was Friday PM thru to Monday AM.

The rally was very successful, with over 100 cars. I havent downloaded the photos yet, but should get some on the site within the next couple of days. The cars ranged from a 1905 single cylinder through to my 2005 V8. There were also two jet engines on display, in full working order. How anyone could actually drive a jet powered Rover with such a racket going on is a wonder. I remember hearing the old Vampires flying over with their Goblin engines at full cry, and these engines wern't much quieter!
We had a great couple of runs in the country and also a very good display. A Rover 75 Tourer, 2004, won the 'Pride of Ownership' award, much to the chagrin of the owners of the 'real' Rovers. It was in as new condition. Mine drew lots of attention, but as it's my daily drive and has now trevelled 100,000kms, it's not in concours condition - still pretty tidy though!
Only one Cyclops turned up, which was a suprise, but otherwise a fantastic selection of Rovers, including three twin plenum SD1 Vitesse, one in Walkinshaw trim. Dr James Taylor was with us for the wekend and gave very informative talks on the Rover marque. Will post some photos soon.
