Am I missing something on removing the rear seat back, there's no release clips and I need to remove it to put leather seats in.

Feel underneath for 2 straps, pulling these releases the seat back. Lift the base out first, makes it easier

Hi, there two very good "How to's" for the removal of the back rest AND the squab.
In the how to section . Do a search.

Kev.

the way i remove the seat backs is remove the seat base first, then fold the seat back down flat, push the top of the seat back down at the headrest end and pull the seat back up at the bottom end at the same time by the white clip. Real pain to do but managed to get the seat back out like this in the past.

That's the problem I'm having...folding the seat down.

if your seat back doesn't have the buttons near the headrests at both ends to fold the seats down, you'll need to find this strap to tug to fold the seat down

Have you got 2 buttons one either side of the headrests which are not releasing the back rest ?

Question Do all saloons have hinged rear seat capability ?

In my local scrap yard there is a saloon with leather seats like mine but they do have the buttons at rear to lay them flat. When I pressed them and lay the seats down I noticed a number of associated fittings eg latch grips . there are also hinge points at the bottom. I have not managed to remove my saloons rear seat so far but does anyone know if the fittings for hinged rear seats are actually embedded in all saloon cars as part of a standard build ie might they be present on mine ? if so , I might well go and lift the rear seat from the scrap yard!

Yes all the cars have the latches and hinges, it's only the buttons that are missing
