Simple answer no, but turn the key to position 2 to prime the system a couple of times for 60 seconds, also while you're at it might you want to chuck some Forte specialist diesel cleaner in the filter,
Once it's completely primed the system fire it up leave it running for around 15 seconds switch it off, leave it overnight and then your injectors to get a nice clean

The diesel models are quite easy to do, in answer to your question - no you dont. When you have checked the filter and it's seals are as required, simply fit to the housing, fasten the clamp, reconnect any hoses/connectors removed, then pulse the ignition to position 2 a few times. The under bonnet fuel pump may become noisey during this operation, but it is forcing fuel into the filter and filling it up for you ! After completing the above, and the under bonnet pump has returned to it's normal sound, the engine should start quite easily. On some occasions, the engine may stall straight away, so simply repeat the ignition on to position 2 a few more times, and all should recover ....
Hope this helps !

You could fill it with something like Forte diesel treatment , run it for a few seconds to let it run into the injectors , leave it overnight and then you'll have nice clean injectors in the morning .

Changed mine last week, while the filter is off check the pipework pump to filter has not chaffed and it is all back in the clips.

Forte specialist diesel cleaner, not easy to get. None of the places I can think of local to me have it. Looks like it will have to be an Amazon order.
Thought it would be easy to get

How much do I put into the new filter
