Oops we're going the wrong way
On holiday in Malta just now and have been following the progress of the Middlesea Yacht Race.
The 100 odd yachts of various classes left Malta on Saturday to go around Sicily then return to Malta. During last night the front runner of the three multi hulls, Phaedo 3 took a course completely in the wrong direction then sailed for around three hours. After doing a 180 degree turn she is now 65 miles behind. I wouldn't want to be the guy at the helm last night. The Italian triple hull Maserati now looks like winning the class |

Out for lunch today so we went over to Birgu which has a large marina. We got parked right next to the Maserati triple hull.
It's a massive boat but not one bit of wasted space, in fact I don't know how they managed to hold the crew. They won their class coming in on just 49 hours and twenty odd minutes. Looking at it today with all the sails down you get to see the engineering of the boat. I guess after a rest the crew will be packing up for home to Italy. |
