Default Classic Car Show. NEC

I visited the Classic Car Show held at the NEC yesterday.

I saw only one Rover 75, it was a tourer on the Rover Sports Register stand.
The tourer had only been purchased a short time before and looked as if it had been a late addition, pushed into the center of the stand in the way, although it was in very good condition.

Some of the stands seemed excessively large, large open spaces with nothing on show.

I wasn't keen on the format of the Wheeler Dealer live stage show, it seems to consist of mainly chat and not much work on cars.
They seem to have broken away from a joint effort with Practical Classics Magazine and have thrown in their lot with Fuzz Townshend and Ant Anstead from the "For the Love of Cars" tv show.

All in all a good show but a bitter disappointment that there was no Owners Club stand.
Mind, the other MG Rover models, ZT, ZR, ZS, and Rover 45 and 25 were also missing.

A great number of stands selling goods not related to cars and a lots of places selling expensive food and really expensive coffee's.

Agreed.

It seems that having a stand for the Nissan Figaro owners club was more important.
It contained one car and nobody even stopped to look at it. Waste of good Rover space!

Interesting though that you say there were more merchandise stands and food/drink stands.
I suspect they pay quite a premium for that

I still found it a good show, a bit expensive but all in all if you like classic cars and chatting to enthusiast owners there is no better place.

I notice that to park your car in the NEC car parks now costs £12 !!

Looks like I've saved myself a fortune by not going

I do remember from my 2010 visit that the food was horrendously expensive, and not that good.

Mind you it's the same at all these venues nowadays, I don't consider them value for money.

There are various outlets outside the actual show halls like Subway and Witherspoon.

I am going to boycott this show, until they let the Rover 75 and MG ZTs back in.

I think we should all chip in for Jimbo to go. He could then expertly video the whole show and it would save us all a small fortune. Surely there must be funds available in the clubs coffers

I was going to pop in on the way back from picking up a wood wheel for Ed tomorrow, but when I saw that it was £23 each to get in and £12 parking (so £58) just to look round for a couple of hours and that's before the rip off burger prices, so will be driving straight past the NEC tomorrow!
