Default Not sure what to do

Picked up a lovely BX plate ZTT 120 last week, only for the head gasket to fail on the way home. Now, I can get it fixed by MG Rover Mobile Mechanics for around £4-500 or sell it for bits. I bought the car hoping it would give me a year or two's worth of use but I can't really justify more outlay. Its a great car that just needs a lower arm balljoint to pass the MOT. Only issue is it judders under breaking but nothing was picked up on the MOT.
What would you do?

Depends on how much you could get back for the car once fixed.
I know that's the wrong idea really but if the outlay for fixing is too much over what you would get for it then strip it for parts to sell and scrap.
It's advice I don't like giving but you have to be honest about these things.

You may not need an MLS gasket or a Head skim it will depend on if the OP "Cooked" the engine on the way home.

There is a misconception that you always need an MLS and skim, sometimes it is not advisable to fit an MLS it will depend on the liner heights.

With regards to MLS or non-MLS, read this:
Head Gasket Choice Guide

Half the problem is garages slapping the MLS on without checking anything.

Get it fixed.

Too many good cars are getting scrapped for no good reason, IMHO.

It all depends how much you paid for it and how you value it. Have the work done and enjoy it or possibly subscribe and sell on as a project
