Default Spring protectors

Ive just been looking on e bay and someones selling , i believe just one side , Rover 75 spring protectors , its stated that this was a mod done by MG/ROVER to stop broken springs penetrating the tyre , is this correct , and are they still available ?

yes it was a mod by mgr and i think rimmers still have them in pairs of course

When I renewed both the fronts on mine the protectors were alresdy fitted?

very handy that.i had new springs fitted this week after having one snap and just miss the tyre .i thought you would have to compress the spring to fit now i see you do not i will get a pair many thanks edit just got some part number rsc00031

In the experience of other members that have had a broken front spring who I have spoken to, the spring protectors do nothing in the event of a broken spring. The broken spring completely misses the protector and punctures the tyre anyway.

I guess you didn't read the post from one of the MGR guys that actually fractured hundreds if springs when developing/testing them. Some failed, most didn't. There's statistics and there are statistics.
