Good. About time.

That Eric Stead garage is now a High and Dry dealership (Hyundai) and it still has the old MG Rover signeage up. Last time I was in there, they had a T4, and some staff were still wearing their MGR dustcoats.

They sorted my ZT when the clutch failed.

Frankly I dont think the chinese are at all bothered about selling their versions of british cars here, they see their markets as being in europe usa and eastern countries, what they wanted whas the machinery tracks and of course rights to the marque, they threw us a bone by keeping the design centre here & a few hunderd on assembly.

Had they been serious they could have imported the Roewe 750 and its successors and achieved excellent sales with it IMO.

They have certainly treated dealers in london with contempt and several has dropped the franchise because of MG UKs unhelpful attitude and UK sales dont seem to be anything to write back home to peking about according to the press.

Says on the dark side that SMC with two dealers have given up. Not sure if this is the case but the Bradford one has so dealer numbers are down from circa 40 to circa 29 (or 27 if SMC have given up).

Try about 30 on assembly! 250ish in Design and I think about 1 in Sales and Marketing
