Smile Electric cooker.

Hi, I am buying a new electric cooker and want to connect the cable coming out of the wall to the new wiring. I have bought new Wago snap connectors rated for 32 amps 400v, would these be okay to use?. Thanks, John.

If that cable goes back to a properly rated cooker point, I would prefer it wired back directly with some nice new cable... just a personal view but joints in 30A supplies I would avoid...

I agree, 6mm2 cable in one piece from the cooker terminal to the cooker connection unit. I certainly wouldn't be connecting unnecessarily.

If in doubt, qualified electrician time. Expect £40-£60 as a charge.

It is acceptable to use a terminal block to make the joint, even in a spur or ring main and it will comply as long as the tests pass and it's safely enclosed. Personally I'd use new cable, and I certainly wouldn't use a wago snap connector or the pushwire version of the same as these are intended primarily for stranded cable (flex).

4mm will work up to 32A on a short run but most people would use 6mm all the way.
