I was only just talking about my old Morris Minor 1956 split screen today, and if I would have kept it. Bought for £400 and sold for £900 in 2001. The number plate would now be worth a small fortune alone.

I ran Morris Minors for the best part of 30 years, I thought the 1048cc 2 door saloon was the best, they were quiet, very nippy for their day, and, unlike the 4 door and Travellers usually watertight. The swimming pool tales about 75s are nothing compared with the twice yearly drying out of sodden carpets on my Traveller. Having said that doing a decoke start to finish on a Saturday morning, cylinder head off, and back on with engine running all in under two hours certainly makes me yearn for that degree of simplicity when we were all competent mechanics.
