Default Engineer Wanted for head skim

Anyone recommend a good engineer in my locality to skim a head off a 1.8 K series.
Cheers

The majority of heads involved in HGF (from any vehicle/engine) don't need skimmed and it is always preferable to leave the head alone.

If the head needs a skim it is not flat so must have been cooked which imho = scrap.

When you find your specialist , the question to ask is not "will you skim my head" but "will you check to see if it needs skimming ". They usually don't

I take your point and totally agree with you.

Yes it has been cooked. The inlaid rubber seals on the gasket had melted allowing water to transfer into the oilways as the compression on all cylinders was ok.

A valid point.
But I will go ahead and skim the head as it will give a better mating surface plus have you ever tried to clean up a aluminium head without leaving marks in it, it is going to be bad enough to clean up the block as this is ali.
Thanks for your thoughts and will look up this man in Cambridgeshire.

I thought the heads were case hardened? if that's true then skimming it will remove the hardened skin. That may not be a good idea..

That's what the shim aspect of the MLS gasket is for, and it will keep your compression ratios the same if you take up to 15 thou off the face
