Default free video editing software recommendations

I have a new dashcam that I have set to record the length of the journey. I can drop down to 3,5 or 10 minutes but want to keep less files. However, I would like to just extract small clips, like the BMW owner that pulled out on me this morning! Can anybody recommend a free to use piece of software that will allow me to do this?
Thanks

I tend to stay away from windows as much as possible... (I presume you meant for windows, rather than Mac or Linux?) http://www.techradar.com/news/softwa...wnload-1136264 probably has a few to try

I'd recommend keeping the files as short as possible, I have mine set to 1 minute, and then use something like Registrator Viewer to view the feed and select the files with the specific incident. If your dashcam has a GPS this can also show your track and speed at the time.

Thanks for the help guys, I tried a Windows one that was overly complicated and exported in a file that iTunes wouldn't accept. The dashcam is wifi so I've just reduced the times to 3 minute clips that I can download straight to my phone
