Default Aircon needs regassing.

I know for sure I need to get it done, but also noticed the fan does not cut in on full speed. Are these related?

Hoping that once regassed the fan works again. Otherwise its a new resistor too me thinks.

Default Cooling system fan control for air con.

The engine cooling fan should run at LOW speed whenever the air conditioning is switched on, whether you have a normal or 'climate control' system.
If the refrigerant pressure rises to a high level, the engine cooling fan is switched to its MEDIUM speed by the trinary switch.
Rover does not mention the HIGH speed at all in relation to air conditioning so, unless your engine is overheating, the fan would appear to be working correctly.

Out of interest - where are you planning on getting the re-gas done. My AC system is also in need of a re-gas and seeing as I'm local it would be nice to know of any recommendations for AC specialists.

:whs:

Do you recon we could get a bulk discount. I need a degas so I can fit my new condensor and compressor, then a vac and refil.

There's a place in Rugeley just by the arches (same place as the hand car wash that used to be a petrol station) nbut I have no idea if they are any good.

Well mine needs to be done!!! So it's worth a shot
I will call around for quotes, and in turn see if such people would be interested in block bookings and maybe a club offering if possible.

Anyone think at least 10 cars would be enough to convince them for a good discount? I do have the gift of the gab so to speak.....lol

Any takers, as I would like to make this work...

I've had to replace one of my pipes today as it had got a hole in it from where the PAS pipe had rubbed against it.

I'm hoping that the change of pipe will allow me to cure the problem that I've had for over 2 years now with my car of no air con.

I need to get mine re-gassed now and hope that I've cured the problem. If this pipe change doesn't work, then I'm scuppered as I haven't got a clue where the leak would be, but looking at the pipe I've taken off it looks like it's been the source of the gas escaping.

the new pipe I have fitted has a slightly different run to the original one and it's not near the PAS pipe anymore.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be from start to finish it took just over an hour to get the bumper off, and replace the pipe and then about 20 mins to get the bumper back on as I spent a bit of time trying to line everything up to reduce the gaps which I've managed to do to something half decent now. Had to take a headlamp out to get to the radiator connection, but that was easier than slicing my hands to pieces on the Rad support.

Whilst at it, I fitted two new horns to the car as I'd only got the one. Now I've got to stonking loud twins horns so now I can use them when needed instead of hanging out of the window and "honking" at people for being idots on the road now.

Would be interested to see if anyone can muster up a discount for a "mass regass!" so count me in. Can't bear the thought of having to fork out masses of £££ for yet another fill up.

Nic
