Default Diesel gear box removal

Both times I've dropped the Subframe. But now I have my engine hoist can I lift the gearbox up and out rather than dropping the subframe and lowering the box?

I can't remember what would get in the way of a lift up? I'm fairly certain I'd have to un hook the bonnet so it either lifts up straighter or remove it all together so I can get the crane in, but what about the engine compartment?

I know I could just strip it down and see but I'm not ready to start yet so I'm hoping someone can give me the answer so I'm prepared as to which way to go!

Cheers

Dave

Never tried it Dave, but I reckon the car body would get in the way unless you want to lift the engine out with the gearbox still attached.

Nope, out the bottom Dave, even with an engine hoist.........what will be easier is lifting the box back in with the hoist

Having just done this The G/B wont come out of the top..Best lower it down or move to one side.

Thankyou very much gentlemen.

That means I can get myself mentally prepared for a couple of days on the floor.

I'll see how I feel tomorrow but I think I'll be stripping it down and then back together Monday.

Next 75 will definatley be an auto....having said that, all though I curse it I've quite enjoyed doing the work. Except the front springs. I really didn't like doing them.
