Default jucheck.exe

Hi, every time I switch my new laptop on, it comes up with jucheck.exe wants to connect to the Internet. yes/no.
I have googled this and some people seem to think it is a trojan virus? Others say it is just Java checking for updates. Does anyone have the definitive answer?
Thanks, Phil.

Hi Phil

First of all, which version of Windows are you running ?

it's a little unclear as to wether it's safe or not & opinions vary !

You can stop this message appearing on start-up by going to:
Start, Run, in the dialog box type: msconfig

Go to Start-up tab

Scroll down the list & see if you can see any reference to jucheck at all.

If you do see something, take the tick out of the checkbox on the left & then click Apply/Ok

You'll get a couple of warnings come up but just Ok them & then re-start your computer.

When it boots into Windows, a Windows System configuration box may appear, just put a tick in the box saying not to warn you again.

I would then do a thorough scan with a program like Malwarebytes (free from internet)

It is to do with Java but usually the update is not an executable program (.exe)

An update just usually 'updates' the existing program whereas an .exe is the initial setup fro installation.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Mike

I think its Java Update,

If you go to the control panel, there should be a Java Icon, double click it, check the updates tab and unselect check for updates, if that solves the issue, then it must be that.
