Default Transporting a full carpet in the back of the car?

I'm considering changing the carpet over to a nicer PPD one whenever the weather improves.

Can anyone who's messed around with these carpets before advise whether it's possible to pack one of these in the back (of a saloon ) or not? Without damaging or over-stressing it?

Going to be a major operation (for me anyway) if I have to remove my own carpet first, drive there without any, then remove carpet from scrapper and fit same to my own - all in the one day..!!

Ideally, I'd just like to go and just remove a carpet, throw it in the back and come home with it.

Possible?

Cheers,
Karl.

Pretty sure it's possible though haven't had to transport a carpet, just dry and clean on the veranda. It'll fold into half quite easily, then drop the rear seats forward, should give you enough room.

But it does weigh quite a bit especially if wet. Make sure you've got the right Torx plus for the seat bolts.

Regards

As has been said, fold the rear seats, and it'll fit okay once folded over.

Thanks Mike. Having not had the carpet out before, I wasn't sure if it would fold without damaging it, so that's useful info.

Might just take the back seats out altogether before I go to pick the carpet up (which is easy enough).

Hopefully, this will give me enough room.

Thanks again,
Karl.

I delivered a full carpet to another member in the boot of a saloon.

I folded into 4 and wrapped it in cling film.

Fitted into the boot with the seats up so no problem what so ever

It musta been cosy in there..!

I didn't realise that they folded so easily. Saves me a good deal of hassle not having to take everything out of the car before I take the trip..

Cheers,
Karl.

If the carpet you are taking from your car is going to the tip, you could probably get it out without taking the seats out until you need to fit your "new" one, good box cutter but take care for any hidden wires.

The PPD carpet is apparently a little thicker, but the finish is certainly different. The Project Drive affected carpets are "hairy" (as if the fibres were stuck on), whereas the fibres on the PPD carpets appear to be better embroidered into the carpet material. The result is that it just looks to be better quality (and may be quieter too, but I don't know yet).

Cheers,
Karl.
