Default Ford Capri to be revived.

It looks nothing like the old Capri & looks like it will be a cross-over SUV type. https://newsletter.autocar.co.uk/car...vealed-shortly

The only similarity between that and the old Capri is the name . . . . has Ford run out of ideas They did the same with the Mustang name, from a fire snorting sports car to an overweight SUV.

Yeah you're right, The SUV/Crossover model is the only platform available to them at present & they've also come out this week with the all electric Ford Explorer from the Stuttgart factory.
They're bypassing the USA with that model which has not gone down too well at all over there, but they're not affected by the mandatory ZEV targets.

Ford Europe is manufacturing as many BEV's as possible to limit the ZEV fines at the end of this year in which 22% of their cars have to be electric, or the fine is £15000 per oversold ICE car.

It will be doubly hard for Ford as they manufacture a lot of Transit vans & every Transit ICE van oversold will cost them £9000.

If they're trying to sell EV's on the strength of the old classic names l think they're on a hiding to nothing.
What's next, the Anglia or perhaps the Corsair?

Whatever happened to the wonderful design principles we were used to? It seems every new car these days is based on the traditional common-or-garden breeze block.

What a tragic loss to individualism/excitement/flair. How absolutely and tragically boring. Car ownership is not, and never was, a slow race to conformity. I think they all think 'we' will swallow anything. 'They' are confusing 'us' with slugs.
